    Christopher J. DiBlasio
    Prostate Cancer Specialist
Dr. Christopher DiBlasio was drawn to urology due to its breadth of medical and surgical diagnoses, disease states, and treatment options, often evolving with the application of technological innovation. With regards to cancer care, Dr. DiBlasio aims to provide optimal oncologic care, with particular emphasis on quality of life outcomes through comprehensive care and utilization of minimally-invasive and contemporary techniques. Dr. DiBlasio speaks positively about cryoablation (cryotherapy) for prostate cancer and renal (kidney) tumors. He says it offers patients “a minimally invasive alternative to other treatment options for these particular diseases.” In the case of prostate cancer, there are minimal side effects. For renal tumors, cryo is an alternative to excision (full or partial kidney removal), with excellent recovery and oncologic outcomes. He expects cryo to offer “comparable cancer control, with less invasive techniques and faster recovery and return to normal activity.” Dr. DiBlasio earned his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine (Grenada, W. Indies). He then went on to complete a Research Fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering (New York, NY). He completed his general surgery internship and urologic residency training at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center (Memphis, TN). Dr. DiBlasio maintains a practice involving both clinical and academic investigations. He is widely published, and maintains dual faculty in the departments of urology at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. His primary research interests are relevant to prostate and kidney cancers. Dr. DiBlasio is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. He is an active member of several professional societies, including The American Urologic Association, the Society of Endourology, Alpha Omega Alpha, and the Association of Clinical Urology.
